Book Review

A highly recommended read - Toni Rocchetti reviews Book Review.

…that land’s my home. That land’s my deepest wish, my wildest dream, the only prayer and the only temple I’m ever gonna need.

This sums up Frank Starlight perfectly.

Frank Starlight has long settled into a quiet life working his remote farm, but his contemplative existence comes to an abrupt end with the arrival of Emmy, who has committed a desperate act so she and her child can escape a harrowing life of violence.

I highly recommend not reading the full summary (I read it after and to me it gives a little too much away). Frank is such an amazing character. Starlight is a sequel to Medicine Walk and you truly understand who Frank is after reading these two beautiful stories. Wagamese writes characters so well and somehow manages to inject so much wisdom throughout his novels that you can not read his books and not underline passages. There’s so much depth and beauty to his words. This is the third book the #wagamisses (@rona @go @bob )have read together by him and lucky for us there are many more to read. Can’t wait to discuss this one, ladies!

While Starlight could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Medicine Walk first as it shows the beginningof Frank’s journey.
